Be Still ... and Wait

My heart calls for you, God's magnificent creation.

Where are you, my next horse?

When will the Lord bring you into my life?

How patiently can I wait for what I long for?

"Be still, and know that I am God ..."

Psalm 46:10

In faith, I will be still, listen quietly to the Spirit's leading, and knowing God, wait for His timing in all things in life ... and for my next horse, if I am so blessed.

A young hawk is a new resident this summer in my neighborhood. He (or she) is such a beautiful bird. I love watching him as he moves his head, patiently waiting for his next meal to come into view.  Beautiful wings bring him to his next perch with the assurance that what he needs and is looking for will be provided by his God, his Creator.

Oh, how he captures my attention every time he comes into view or I hear his call in the air!

For me he is a perfect picture of faith, trust, and quiet waiting, and he reminds me of the wisdom of the scripture reference above.

Like this patient hawk, I remember to be still in my waiting and to sense God's presence and assurance with me, and believe that what I am looking for will come in perfect time if it is to be ... and maybe something I have not even been looking for that will a fulfilling delight.

Being still and waiting are a uniquely creative part of my life.

And wisdom calls back to me ...

"Cast your bread upon the waters, for you will find it after many days."

Ecclesiastes 11:1
