For the Love and Appreciation of Horses

I love painting horse portraits for their owners. My challenge is to capture the spirit of each horse I paint because each horse is so unique in personality and appearance, and each owner has a special bond with their horse that is reflected by the look in the horse's eye when they are with each other.

Horses are beautiful animals with hearts that reach out for quiet enjoyment of each other and are always taking in what is around them at any given time and place, and letting each moment be what it is.  I bring some of my coaching clients to spend time with a horse so that they can learn from the horse things about themselves they could not learn in other settings. I always say that horses are truth tellers and help us catch glimpses of out most honest selves.

The picture shown in my blog represents beautiful, precious memories for me. How greatly I miss my horse, Stormy, and riding him in wonderful places with wonderful fellow riders. (I'm in the turquoise vest) He stayed in Arizona when I felt I had to move back to Michigan. I can't believe it was that long ago I did this ride.

This is even more precious to me now because Stormy passed away November 13 in Arizona at the age of 28 1/2. For ten precious years he brought me beautiful opportunities to ride and explore our beautiful world, wonderful horse friends, and his loving heart to carry me through my days.

Thank you, Lord, for what I had. And thank you, too, for what is ahead in this wonderful world of horses.
